This week's news plus motor oil

News this week: The dread lock (well, there were three dreads eventually) that has protruded from Lennon's head for weeks is now gone. I snipped it against his father's wishes.
When I say dread, I mean a gnarly, nappy, ratted piece of hair longer than all others that was IMPOSSIBLE to comb out. It's gone. I'll admit: I was a little sad to see it go.
In other news, I made cookies last week (A DOUBLE BATCH) that were sick. Real comment from Tod's mouth after attempting to eat one: "Awwwwww, sick! These cookies taste like motor oil!" Turns out, it wasn't ALL my fault...

For 27 years I couldn't make good cookies. Ask my mom, my sisters, my husband, and Megan and Clayton. Could.not.do.it.

Finally I received a lovely gift last summer -- a KitchenAid mixer. And since then, my cookies have improved exponentially.

Until last week. Apparently, the million and one cookies I baked were made with EXPIRED CRISCO. Did you know Crisco could expire? Oh yeah, me too.
The saddest part: THEY LOOKED SO delicious! But motor oil does taste sort of sick so the cookies were thrown away and it made me mad. I hate making/eating motor oil cookies so I purchased more Crisco and made a lovely batch that melted in our mouths. Only the best at the Wever household.

On occasion I try to make the kids treats a little healthier so I'll add some wheat flour to sugar cookies or pie crust. Just so you know- wheat flour can go bad too. Who knew?
